Did you know you can potentially get paid for posting about products and brands you already buy?
You don’t necessarily need thousands of followers, a huge TikTok account or a full-blown influencer career either.
One platform I’ve been using to make a little extra money from my everyday social media content is Social Tip.
The idea is pretty simple: you buy from one of the brands available on Social Tip, create genuine content about your purchase on Instagram or TikTok, submit your post through the app and receive a cash reward based on the post.
I’ve been using Social Tip myself, and I think it’s particularly interesting if you’re already creating content for Instagram or TikTok anyway.
In this guide, I’m going to explain:
Disclosure: This post contains my referral link. If you join Social Tip using my link, I may receive a referral reward if you qualify. This doesn’t change how the app works or what you earn.
You connect your Instagram and/or TikTok account, purchase from a participating brand, create content about your purchase and submit the post through Social Tip.
The app then calculates a reward based on your content and its performance.
Social Tip says rewards take factors including the type and quality of the content, as well as reach and engagement into account. Importantly, Social Tip says you don’t need to be an influencer to use the platform and rewards aren’t simply based on follower count.
So this isn’t really the same thing as traditional influencer marketing.
You don’t need a brand to approach you and offer you £100 to make a Reel.
Instead, you’re being rewarded for sharing content about brands you already buy from.
The basic process is:
Buy → Post → Submit → Get rewarded
Here’s what that looks like in practice.
First, you create a Social Tip account and connect your Instagram and/or TikTok account.
You need to be at least 17 to register for an account.
JOIN SOCIAL TIP (this link will give you up to £10 in rewards)
Once you’re in the app, you can browse the brands available to you.
The brands and opportunities can change, so it’s worth checking the app regularly.
Social Tip’s app currently has a dedicated Brands section where you can browse available brands and see their posting guidelines and receipt requirements.
This is an important part of how Social Tip works.
You’re generally creating content about something you’ve actually purchased.
Social Tip says that to earn from brand-partner content, you need to have purchased from the relevant brand partner.
So this isn’t usually:
“Here’s a free product. Make an advert.”
It’s more like:
“You already shop with this brand. Share your genuine experience and we’ll reward you for the content.”
That makes it particularly easy to fit around your normal spending.
You then create your content.
This could be:
The important thing is that your content needs to genuinely feature the relevant brand or product and follow the posting guidelines.
Social Tip currently recommends showing the actual product early in your content, using good lighting and creating genuine content based on your real experience.
This is important.
For your post to be detected and eligible for rewards, Social Tip currently says you need to mention @socialtiphq and tag or mention the relevant brand.
Don’t forget this step.
It could mean the difference between a post being picked up correctly and having to sort it out afterwards.
Once you’ve published your content, you add it to the Social Tip app.
For Instagram, Social Tip currently instructs users to send the post to @socialtiphq by DM, follow the verification link and then select the relevant brand and upload the required purchase verification.
The app should then show your post as being processed.
Most Social Tip brands require a valid receipt.
This can be a physical receipt or an eligible digital receipt.
Your receipt needs to show things such as the merchant, date and purchase details clearly.
This is one reason I recommend keeping your receipts until you’ve successfully submitted the post.
Social Tip then calculates your reward.
The current guidance says the calculation period is typically around 48 hours, although it can be sooner.
Once your post has been rewarded, the money appears in your Social Tip wallet.
And that’s it.
You’ve turned something you were already posting on social media into an opportunity to earn some extra cash.
This is probably the biggest question.
And the honest answer is:
It varies.
There isn’t one fixed amount that everyone receives for every post.
Social Tip says its reward calculation takes several factors into account, including:
However, Social Tip specifically says rewards aren’t based on views or engagement alone. Content quality can also affect the amount you receive.
That means you shouldn’t look at someone else’s £10 reward and assume you’ll automatically receive £10 for the same type of post.
Your reward can be different.
This is one of the things I like about Social Tip.
You don’t have to be a huge influencer.
Social Tip says it is designed for everyday users and that no influencer status is required.
Your follower count is one factor considered in the reward system, but it isn’t the only thing that matters.
That means someone with a smaller account can still potentially earn.
Potentially, yes, depending on the opportunity and the quality/performance of the content.
Some individual brand campaigns can have their own reward structures.
For example, brands using Social Tip may advertise specific maximum rewards for approved posts.
But I wouldn’t build your budget around earning a particular amount every time.
Think of it as variable extra income.
Some posts will perform better than others.
Others will earn more.
Some may earn relatively little.
And that’s normal.
For me, the biggest appeal is that I’m already creating social media content.
I’m not having to sit down and complete a traditional survey for 20 minutes.
Not writing a huge blog post.
I’m not doing a complicated freelance job.
I’m creating a piece of content that I might have created anyway — and potentially getting paid for it.
That’s a very different proposition.
This is what makes Social Tip interesting.
Imagine you buy something from a participating brand.
Instead of the purchase simply disappearing into your weekly spending, you could potentially:
Buy it → use it → create content → get rewarded.
Obviously, you should never buy something you don’t want purely because you think you’ll make money from the post.
But if you’re already buying the product?
That’s where I think Social Tip makes sense.
No.
You don’t need to be a traditional influencer with tens of thousands of followers.
Social Tip says its platform is for everyday users who want to earn from authentic content about brands they already use.
Your audience and engagement can still influence your reward, but follower count isn’t the sole requirement.
This makes it particularly interesting if you’ve got a smaller Instagram or TikTok account and are trying to turn your existing content into an income stream.
This depends on the individual brand.
Social Tip currently supports different content types across Instagram and TikTok.
These can include:
Not every brand will accept every type of post, so always check the specific brand’s guidelines before creating your content.
Social Tip also says that Reels and TikToks can have greater earning potential than Stories because they remain available for longer.
I wouldn’t recommend trying to force content for every brand.
Instead, I’d use Social Tip alongside the content you’re already making.
For example, if you’re already filming a TikTok about a product you genuinely use, check whether that brand is available on Social Tip.
If it is, you can potentially make that piece of content work harder.
You’re not creating:
one piece of content = one opportunity
You’re creating:
one piece of content = potentially multiple benefits
That might mean:
That’s where I think the real value is.
There is no magic formula for getting a huge reward, but Social Tip itself gives some useful guidance.
Don’t spend the first 20 seconds talking about something completely unrelated.
Show the actual product early in the content.
Don’t just hold a product up to the camera and say:
“I love this.”
Give people a reason to care.
Show how you use it.
Show the result.
Explain why you bought it.
Share something useful about it.
You don’t need expensive equipment.
Natural light can make a huge difference.
Social Tip currently recommends Reels and TikToks because they can remain available for longer than Stories and therefore have greater potential to earn.
Social Tip recommends variety across brands and content.
Your content should still feel like your normal content rather than a stream of identical advertisements.
Because reward calculations can take reach and engagement into account, create content people actually want to watch.
Ask a question.
Show a useful tip.
Tell a story.
Make people want to comment or share.
This is probably the most important one.
If you genuinely use the product, your content is much easier to create.
And it’s much more believable to your audience.
Usually, yes.
Social Tip says most brands require a valid receipt unless the individual opportunity says otherwise.
Your receipt should clearly show the required purchase information.
Don’t rely on:
Social Tip specifically lists these as examples of things that aren’t accepted as purchase verification.
So my advice is simple:
Keep your receipts.
If you know you’re going to create content about a product, don’t immediately throw the receipt away.
Once your post has completed its calculation period and is marked as rewarded, the cash goes into your Social Tip wallet.
Social Tip currently says the calculation period is typically around 48 hours, although it can be earlier.
You can then request a withdrawal from your wallet.
Social Tip says withdrawal processing typically takes around 24–72 hours, with your bank’s processing time on top of that.
So don’t necessarily expect the money to appear in your bank account immediately after posting.
Yes.
Instagram is one of the main platforms Social Tip supports.
You can potentially earn from eligible:
The exact eligible format depends on the brand.
And because you’re being rewarded based on your content rather than simply being paid a fixed influencer fee, it can be an interesting way for smaller creators to start monetising their Instagram account.
Yes.
TikTok is also supported by Social Tip.
You create eligible content about participating brands, tag the relevant accounts and Social Tip, submit your post and wait for the reward calculation.
Again, the amount isn’t guaranteed.
Your reward depends on the current Social Tip calculation and the individual opportunity.
These are quite different.
With traditional influencer work, a brand might contact you and offer you a fixed fee to create a specific piece of content.
With Social Tip, you’re generally starting with something you’ve already purchased and creating organic content around it.
That means you don’t necessarily need:
You can simply start with the brands you already buy from.
I actually think this makes Social Tip a useful stepping stone if you’re interested in eventually getting into paid UGC or brand collaborations.
For me, yes.
But I’d describe it as an extra-income stream, not a replacement for a job.
I particularly like it if you’re already posting on Instagram or TikTok.
If you aren’t creating social content at all, you may find it less appealing because you’re having to create content specifically to earn the reward.
But if you’re already filming Reels and TikToks?
It’s worth checking whether the brands you’re buying from are on Social Tip.
The best-case scenario is that you’re essentially getting paid for content you were going to create anyway.
✔ You don’t need to be a big influencer
Social Tip is designed for everyday users too.
✔ You can use Instagram and TikTok
You aren’t restricted to one platform.
✔ You can earn from everyday purchases
You may already be buying the products you’re posting about.
✔ Rewards are cash
Your reward goes into your Social Tip wallet and can be withdrawn.
✔ It’s flexible
You choose what content and opportunities suit you.
✔ It can complement other income streams
You can combine Social Tip with affiliate marketing, UGC, blogging and other side hustles.
✘ Rewards aren’t fixed
You won’t necessarily earn the same amount for every post.
✘ You generally need to buy the product
This isn’t simply free-product influencer marketing.
✘ You need to follow the posting requirements
Missing tags, receipts or other requirements can cause problems.
✘ You need to create good content
Low-quality content may result in a lower reward.
✘ It’s not guaranteed income
Brands, opportunities and rewards can change.
Once you’ve made your first Social Tip post and received a reward, you can also refer other people.
Social Tip currently says eligible members can earn 10% of the post rewards received by people they refer, up to £100 per referred friend.
That’s separate from the money you earn from your own posts.
So if you enjoy Social Tip and know people who are already active on Instagram or TikTok, the referral programme can become another small income stream.
JOIN SOCIAL TIP with up to £10 in rewards
Based on my own use of Social Tip, I consider it a legitimate platform for earning rewards from eligible social media content.
Social Tip has a current help centre explaining its earning, receipt, reward and withdrawal processes, as well as current member terms.
As with any side hustle, though, I wouldn’t rely on it as guaranteed income.
Rewards can vary, opportunities can change and you need to follow the platform’s current rules.
If you’re being paid or otherwise rewarded for posting about a product, you need to make that clear to your audience.
UK guidance says incentivised social media content — including paid posts, gifted products, affiliate relationships and rewarded reviews — needs to be clearly identified as advertising.
So don’t hide the fact that you’re being rewarded.
Follow the current Social Tip and platform requirements and use the appropriate advertising disclosure for your post.
Being transparent protects both you and your audience.
Social Tip is just one piece of the puzzle.
I don’t think the answer to making money from home is finding one app that magically makes you hundreds of pounds every month.
I prefer combining several realistic income streams.
For example:
Some might make £1.
Others might make £10.
Some might eventually make £100’s.
But when you’re building income around family life, flexibility matters too.

Yes. Social Tip rewards eligible users for creating authentic social media content about participating brands and products they’ve purchased. Rewards are calculated using factors including content type, quality, reach and engagement.
No. Social Tip says you don’t need influencer status and rewards aren’t based on follower count alone.
There isn’t one fixed amount. Rewards vary according to factors including the content type, quality and performance of the post and the individual brand opportunity.
Yes. Instagram is supported, including eligible posts, Reels and Stories depending on the brand’s requirements.
Yes. TikTok is also supported for eligible content.
For brand-partner earning opportunities, Social Tip says you generally need to have purchased from the relevant brand.
Most brands require a valid receipt, although individual requirements can vary.
Posts are typically calculated within around 48 hours, after which the reward is added to your Social Tip wallet if the post is rewarded. Withdrawal processing can then take a further 24–72 hours according to Social Tip’s current guidance.
You can join Social Tip without paying a membership fee. You may, however, need to purchase products from participating brands in order to create eligible content.
Yes. Once you’ve made your first post and received a reward, Social Tip currently allows eligible users to refer friends and earn 10% of their referred users’ post rewards, up to £100 per person.
If you’re already posting on Instagram or TikTok, I think Social Tip is absolutely worth checking out.
The biggest thing I like about it is that you don’t necessarily have to become an influencer overnight.
You can start with products you already buy.
Create genuine content.
You submit it.
And if it’s eligible and rewarded, you get paid.
It won’t make you rich overnight — and I wouldn’t want to give you the impression that every post will earn £10, £20 or more.
But if you’re already spending time creating social media content, getting paid something for that content is a pretty good bonus.
And that’s how I prefer to approach these smaller money-making opportunities.
Don’t build your life around them.
Add them to the things you’re already doing.
A few pounds here.
A free or discounted purchase there.
A referral payment somewhere else.
A blog commission in the background.
A UGC job when one comes along.
Over time, those little income streams can become much more meaningful.
